Motorola
V3 Here is one
spectacularly good-looking handset. To start with, it's
thin. Very thin. Less than 14mm separates the front from
the back, yet there's room for a camera and a colour
screen on the outside. Flip it open and you're greeted
with a much larger colour screen and the keypad,
although calling it a 'keypad' really doesn't do it
justice. The nickel-plated copper-alloy
chemically-etched keypad (try saying that quickly!)
gives the Motorola V3 a distinctly sci-fi feel. Don't
worry, it's a classy sci-fi feel - more '2001' than
'Buck Rogers'.
But is the V3 all style and no substance? Not a chance.
It offers everything you'd expect from a top-class
handset, including polyphonic ringtones, a
260,000-colour display, video playback, Bluetooth
connectivity and quad-band coverage. The Motorola V3
reinvents the flip phone as a must-have mobile that's
genuinely pocket-sized

Siemens
SL65 Updating a
cult classic is never easy. If you want proof, just look
at some of the second-rate TV shows and films that have
recently attempted to re-create some of our favourites
from childhood!
Pick up the Siemens SL65 and your worries are forgotten.
It takes all the good points of the popular slide-open
SL55 and improves them. Most importantly, there's now a
built-in camera with 5x digital zoom for photos and
video clips. The colour screen is clearer than ever and
the polyphonic ringtones sound better. There's no
disguising that this handset is designed to be stylish -
and it succeeds brilliantly. The lack of Bluetooth may
put business users off, but infrared and USB connections
help to make up for this. If you're after a good-looking
mobile, the Siemens SL65 should be somewhere at the top
of your list.
